Scheme aspects under discussion
While the scheme is new and designed to implement European Standards that are in draft, there has been little industry review of the documentation. This page is designed to inspire discussion and feedback of some of the contentious issues that HETAS intend to implement. This is partly derived from an interpretation of the European Standards so is subject to change.
The scheme requires standard information is declared at all ‘Points of Sale’ (web-site, in-shop label, telephone enquiry). This enables the customer make an informed choice. The majority of these derive directly from the European standard for product. These are the proposals for each of the biomass fuels in the scheme, with specific aspects highlighted requesting feedback.
HETAS are working with the British Standards Institute to see if we can incorporate a pragmatic sustainability standard for our scheme participants. Proposal can be downloaded:
