Hetas Public

HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services. Its work in Approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires and stoves and room heaters. It also lists in its Official 2007 Guide, factory made chimneys and carbon monoxide detectors and alarms suitable for use with solid fuel.

The HETAS Guide contains listings of Approved solid fuels; as well as Approved Appliances and products for use with solid mineral fuels, wood and approved solid biomass fuels. It also contains lists of Registered  Installers, Chimney Sweeps and Maintenance businesses who’s operatives have been trained and assessed in safety and good practice. The Guide is a very important document for the designer, retailer, installer, maintainer or user of appliances and systems using solid fuel as a heat source. It contains valuable efficiency figures for appliances helping to determine whether a particular appliance can be installed in accordance with Building Regulations. With the current drive for low and zero carbon homes and the carbon neutral properties of wood  the guide is a useful source of information. There are also contact details for other important industry organisation and lots of other useful information. The information in the Guide can also be found in electronic format on the web site.
