UK Pellet Council Courses
The UK Pellet Council, in conjunction with the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, has organised a series of one-day courses specifically for installers of domestic wood pellet boilers. The domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is about to be announced and the industry is expecting an increased interest in wood pellet boilers from householders.
This course is aimed at Domestic Pellet Boiler installers and related businesses – suppliers and manufacturers of said boilers, installers and users. Course fees have been subsidised by the UKPC to allow registration onto each course at just £150 per person. A number of topics will be covered during the course, including:
- Characterisation of pellets (density, dust content, dust emissivity, durability, attrition resistance);
- Storage and handling (flow properties, hopper design, discharge aids and feeders, screw and pneumatic conveying);
- Dust, degradation and explosion risk (properties and hazards of biomass dust, control of dust generation and emission, responsibilities under ATEX/DSEAR regulations, basic housekeeping and maintenance)
- Outgassing hazards
