Bruce’s Blog | April 2019
With spring arriving it’s time to do all those jobs that can’t be done through the heating season. With April 2014 being when Government started to require refresher training/assessment after 5 years, we are busy with the update training courses and reminding installers of the need to update their knowledge. Feedback is really good. Things move on and a five-year period between updates means that there’s lots to cover.
From the perspective of complaints against registered installers by their customers we can see that the update training will be useful to reinforce some basic stuff that is still regularly found like the correct positioning of CO detectors and chimney data plates; as well as giving a timely reminder of some of the other things that cause failures and complaints like distance to combustion and flue/chimney requirements. Please read the technical bulletins and your free Technical Handbook; and if unsure call the helpline. Let’s get it right first time.
In this month’s newsletter we look at a recent survey of stove users carried out by Which?, the all new HETAS Guide for 2019, being ready for your routine inspection and more.
