Changes in Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
If you have people in your employment and/or are in control of the work premises then the following will affect you.
From 1st October 2013 new RIDDOR regulations are in force that you need to be aware of so you can update your procedures and train your staff. Remember that non-compliance with these rules could lead to a prosecution or a fine.
In summary the changes are:
- The classification of “major injuries” is replaced with a shorter list of “specified injuries”.
- The existing schedule of 47 types of industrial diseases is replaced with 8 categories of work related illnesses which you need to report
- Fewer types of “dangerous occurrence” will need reporting
