Independent Retailer Month is an annual event that runs throughout July to highlight the important role smaller, local, independent retailers play in the communities they serve, the local economy they contribute to, and in the retail sector as a whole.Independent traders are vital to our local communities and economies. Stats show that for every £1 spent with a local, independent business, between 50p-70p is reinvested into that local economy. Compared to shopping online or out-of-town, which although may save a little time or a little money, sees only 5p trickle back into the local economy.
Clare Rayner who leads the campaign in the UK, is the founder of Support for Independent Retail, a source of support, advice, ideas and inspiration to help independent retailers and consumer facing businesses to get (and stay) open for business. Clare is passionate about the future of high streets, town centres and villages, and in 2013 hosted the inaugural ‘Future High Street Summit’. HETAS is proud to champion independent retailers who can offer consumers personal and individual service. We rely on our Approved Retailers to advise and educate end users about the importance of buying HETAS Approved appliances, getting them installed by Approved Installers and maintained by an Approved Chimney Sweep. For us, retailers play a crucial role in the consumer journey. Those who have undertaken the HETAS Approved Retailer scheme can help ensure more consumers follow the right steps when by a stove or boiler, which not only benefits the consumer but also the industry and indeed, the environment.
Joining the HETAS Approved Retailer schemes costs just £100 plus VAT for businesses that are already CPS registered with HETAS.
