Benefits of refreshing your HETAS training early 

Secure your place at your local HETAS Approved Training Centre early to avoid last-minute refresher stresses. 

As a HETAS registrant, you will be aware how it is essential to keep your registration up to date, and the benefits that come with your registration. Getting ahead of schedule and booking your refresher training in early makes sure you can keep making the most of your HETAS registration and avoid any interruptions to your business. 

Refresh up to 6 months early 

We’ll send you a reminder 6 months before your refresher training is due, but we know how easy it is to forget to book this in as you’re busy working. However, we recommend you look at finding a date that suits you as soon as you receive this reminder to make sure you can secure your preferred dates and avoid any scheduling difficulties. 

We also offer the option to let you refresh your training even when you have up to 6 months remaining, increasing your flexibility. 

Is your refresher training due in December, but you’ve got a busy heating season ahead? Take your training during the summer and gain an added buffer before your next refresher is due. 

If you refresh your training 5 months early, it will then be valid for 5 years and 5 months – making sure you don’t miss out because you’ve planned ahead.

Secure your preferred training dates: training centres experience increased demand just before heating season starts as registrants scramble to keep their registration active – don’t get caught out! Book your training in at a time that suits you and skip the stress. 

Continue without any interruptions: avoid having to reschedule important work and book your training in during a time that is right for you. 

Work around your busy schedule: don’t let training interrupt your busy workload – plan in advance and book in work around your refresher training.

Why you need to refresh 

The Conditions of Authorisation, set by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), require us to ensure your training is up to date and refreshed every 5 years. This is also detailed in our scheme Conditions of Registration as a requirement for active registration on the HETAS competent person scheme. 

We want you to remain compliant and keep completing your work with interruption. This is why we have made it flexible for you to refresh, at a time that suits you.
