HETAS Installer Blue Card

This category of card is intended for those whose work includes the completion of installation and maintenance activities on solid fuel heating systems, flue and or chimney systems. Cardholders must also have a valid, individual HETAS registration.

Eligibility

There is now a pathway through the L3 Plumbing NVQ Diploma/Plumbing Apprenticeship Standard which reflects this job role and leads to HETAS registration. Those who have completed such a route should apply for a Plumber Gold card: https://www.jib-pmes.org/cards/plumber-gold-card.

This category of application is intended for those who are not eligible for other JIB-PMES CSCS registration cards, but who do hold valid HETAS Installer status. The requirements for this card category are therefore summarised below:

Qualification requirements

Applicants must provide evidence of both of the following:

  • Certificates confirming current competence in any one or more of the following HETAS solid fuel categories:
  • Appliances;
  • Chimneys/Flues;
  • Service and Maintenance;
  • Approved Chimney sweep
  • Verification of current, approved HETAS Installer status.

Additional information

Those who meet any of the qualification requirements can, assuming they have also met all other card requirements (i.e. passed a valid Health, Safety and Environmental test) proceed to complete the HETAS Installer card application form.

The standard fee for this card is £40.00 (Fast track service is available for £100.00).

If you are applying for a free card, please download a copy of the application form and submit your application either by email or hard copy.  JIB-PMES cannot accept online applications for free cards.

What are my options if I don’t meet the qualification requirements?

If applicants cannot provide evidence of having completed the qualifications stipulated, there are two options open to them:

  • Undertake the training that will provide them with the required qualification(s)
  • Apply for an alternative type of card. The JIB-PMES CSCS green Labourer card is available to those who complete the one-day CITB ‘Site Safety Plus – Health and Safety Awareness’ course and who pass the CITB Operative Health, Safety and Environmental test.

Get in touch with JIB-PMES to find out more about gaining your HETAS CSCS card.
