Barry Cope

Barry joined Cleaner Safer Group (CSG) as CEO in 2025, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the building and construction and air quality industries, specialising in testing and compliance.

With over a decade of experience as Group Managing Director of the Building Compliance Testers Association (BCTA), Barry has a strong background in creating, refining, and expanding new standards across certification, accreditation and training. As Group Managing Director, Barry was responsible for overseeing multiple brands and organisations, encompassing air tightness testing, sound insulation testing, ventilation and building performance products, gaining valuable experience in the operation of certification schemes in the building compliance sector.

Being responsible for growing multiple new standards which have been adopted by 60 different bodies and building regulators worldwide, Barry has first-hand experience in strengthening construction compliance in countries such as the USA, Australia, and the UAE. This experience allows Barry to continue strengthening CSGʼs position both nationally and internationally, expanding training, certification and consultancy services, whilst developing the Groupʼs existing brands.

Bringing a proven track record of technical leadership in compliance and consultancy, Barryʼs experience
developing and managing quality systems to achieve UKAS accreditation grants the opportunity to bolster the Groupʼs growth with a focus on environmental responsibility and compliance, utilising industry-leading positions in solid fuel and biomass.

As CEO of CSG, Barry oversees the Groupʼs brands and is responsible for development and growth – with a determined focus on sustainability. Past successes in upholding industry standards positions Barry to expand CSG and the services its subsidiaries – HETAS and Woodsure – offer, building on existing specialist certification and government-contracted schemes.
