This month our spotlight turns to the heart of the Black Country and a family business that has been trading since the 60s.

Started in 1968 by Ray Andrews, Midtherm as a business has evolved under the family’s direction to meet everchanging manufacturing requirements and now consists of several divisions all working in partnership under the Midtherm brand. With a passion for UK manufacturing, Midtherm’s mission statement reflects their focus on quality.

Provide exceptional UK designed and manufactured products. To exceed all customers expectations by applying our extensive knowledge and experience while living our family values of integrity, honesty, support, loyalty and longevity all incorporated within the Midtherm way.”

The group’s focus on quality is further underpinned with their independently approved ISO9001 quality assurance systems, with all manufactured goods and services being built to exceed any quality demands and underpinned by extensive product warranties. In addition to their nationwide supply, Midtherm products are also exported to Hong Kong and the Middle East.

Known in the industry for their range of chimney and flue systems, the wider group offers a range of services, specialising in the design and manufacture of comprehensive solutions including laser cutting, bending, fabrications, coatings, assembly, and design/production of innovative state-of-the-art air purifying systems.

When it comes to chimney systems and flues, Midtherm specialise in the production and distribution of Class 1 Chimneys, Vitreous Enamel and Flexible Liners for the Wood Burning Stove industry. They are proud to remain a British owned UK based manufacturer with one of the largest flue manufacturing, storage and distribution facilities in the UK. Their central England facility can supply directly from stock and rapidly produce for domestic, commercial and industrial customers worldwide. You may have seen their fleet of vehicles delivering their products across the country, supported by a trustworthy courier service for on demand orders.

Most recently, Midtherm has introduced the Pyrus V to the market. The stove is Defra exempt and has been certified on the HETAS Cleaner Choice scheme. The Pyrus V is a 5kW stove with a net efficiency of 83.8%, and testing identified the stove has a 63% improvement on the Clean Air Act particulate limit at full load and 68% improvement on part load. Midtherm worked with local casting experts Thomas Dudley Foundry for the design of the stove door and the stove is also available with bespoke log storage.

Midtherm Group is also committed to reducing its environmental impact. Electric cars have facilitated a dramatic reduction in CO2 emissions and this investment forms part of their net-zero journey. Midtherm’s Managing Director Richard Andrews recently discussed their transition to EVs.

Over half our company vehicles are now electric as we strive towards a fully electric fleet and with a number of charging points already installed we have the infrastructure in place.”

Midtherm has expanded into the fabrications market and is proud to share its latest project. A prototype biomass boiler, manufactured to the design and specification of one of our long term customers, is designed for heating air and water systems by efficient controlled combustion. Thanks to the hard work of their fabrication teams this project is almost finished and ready to despatch.
