HETAS Approved Servicing – the scheme for quality stove and solid fuel technicians.
The growth of the renewable energy sector has meant increasing demand for biomass, wood and solid fuel installations, with more and more consumers insisting on HETAS approved technicians.
HETAS has developed the Approved Servicing scheme to target the needs of:
- Maintenance engineers looking to extend their work into solid fuel
- Property management businesses responsible for checking open fires or solid fuel stoves
- Chimney sweeps extending their accreditation to cover appliance servicing
- Former installers of stoves now switching over to servicing and maintenance visits.
The application process for quality stove servicing technicians is really straightforward, and you can download the relevant forms at the bottom of this page. Your application form should be sent to HETAS along with your supporting documents.
What training will be required to join?
There is a streamlined entry route for applicants to the scheme through the new HETAS H009 Service and Maintenance Course. This will be ideal for servicing technicians to demonstrate the relevant knowledge and practical skill to assess dry solid fuel and/or woodfuel installations. For applicants who will not be installing appliances or liners, for the first time there is now a solid fuel course focused specifically on pre-existing stoves and flues. HETAS Training Centres across the country have opened bookings for the H009 course.
How will it be regulated?
As well as our monthly newsletter, access to dedicated insurance services receiving a copy of the HETAS Guide to Approved Products and Services and appearing in our popular online ‘find servicing‘ search, another advantage of HETAS Servicing technician approval is access to mediation. Although these are very rare, any complaint from a member of the public about a HETAS Approved Servicing technician would be assessed fairly to establish the facts on both sides and come to an agreement or a suitable way forward.
How much will it cost?
